Biografía
Saioa Aginako is a Basque illustrator. Psychologist, in the autumn of 2021 she began studying illustration at the Escola Massana in Barcelona. She complemented these two years of training with a third year at ISIA in Urbino (Italy), Higher Institute for the Artistic Industry. Since she was a child she has maintained a connection with the natural environment, spending time in the woods and observing birds. Enthusiastic about every detail, from the tiniest frog, to the textures created by the bark of different trees, to the variation of colour in the reflections of water. This connection can be seen in her illustrations, full of colour and versatility, which create unique and sensitive environments. Childhood, the folklore of different peoples and the simplicity of everyday life are other sources of inspiration for her work. In 2023 her series ‘After the war’ participates in the 14th Iberoamérica Ilustra catalogue and in 2024 her work ‘When the wind rises" is longlisted for WIA awards.
