CALL FOR 1 ARTIST FROM AROUND THE WORLD
1 ARTIST FROM THE SPANISH STATE AND 1 DESIGNER FROM ÁLAVA

Irudika is launching two contests to support creation and internationalisation and whose prize will consist of two artistic residencies, which will take place between Vitoria Gasteiz, Fundación Bilbaoarte Fundazioa and La Maison des Auteurs de la Cité Internationale de la Bande Dessinée et de L’image (Angoulême). to develop a personal piece and part of the graphic material for Irudika 2019, in the ANIMATION and ILLUSTRATION sections. Furthermore, during the time in Vitoria, the artists from around the WORLD and the SPANISH STATE will work with DESIGN SCHOLARSHIP holder from Álava who will be in charge of the layout of the graphic material for the final exhibition of the residents’ work to be held at the Vital Foundation on 3 May 2019.

Monetary award: €1000 + 3-month subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud. Plus €1000 for expenses, material and transport.
Purpose of the residency: Aimed at artists from anywhere around the world to produce a personal project and poster + graphic element to accompany flyers for IRUDIKA 2018. Sponsored by Euskal Irudigileak.
Period for applications: from 20 September to 11.59 p.m. on 17 October.
Requirements: Send CV + dossier (Between 2 and 5 pages explaining the personal project) + 3 of the artist’s representative illustrations and registration form to info@irudika.eus.

ANIMATION

for artists from the Spanish State

Monetary award: €1000 + 3-month subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud.
Plus €1000 for expenses, material and transport.

Purpose of the residency: For Spanish artists who must produce a personal project and bumper animation lasting between 20 and 60 seconds for the forthcoming IRUDIKA 2018. Sponsored by Acción Cultural de España.
Period for applications: from 20 September to 11.59 p.m. on 17 October.
Requirements: CV + pieces created between 2016 and 2018, lasting a minimum of 30 seconds and a maximum of 10 minutes. Mp4 format and no larger than 100 Mb. Send to info@irudika.eus.

DESIGN

GRANT

for artists from Álava

Monetary award: €1000 + 3-month subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud. Plus €1000 for expenses, material and transport.
The Vital Foundation has launched the grant for young designers from Álava to benefit from the processes of the international resident artists, by spending time with them in Vitoria and working on publishing the graphic material of the residency and its final exhibition.
Period for applications: from 20 September to 11.59 p.m. on 17 October.
Requirements: Submit CV and portfolio (Between 2 and 5 pages showing previous work and examples of flyer layouts) and registration form to: info@irudika.eus.

MEDIA VACA

The publisher from Valencia is back at Irudika to showcase its Museo Media Vaca”project: A book in progress, with performed versions of the favourite works of art of 31 illustrators, more than a dozen of which emerged from the networking at Irudika 2017. A perfect example of what this event creates by bringing together professionals and fostering new connections.
This year, in their twentieth year as publishers, Vicente and Bego from Media Vaca have also been awarded the National Prize for the Best Publishing Work, something very important to celebrate at the Artium Museum in Vitoria on 19 and 20 October.

SERGIO LARA

This animator from Valencia will tell us about his career, his work and how a young artist ends up being a cog within the team of animators of a super-production such as Isle of Dogs by Wes Anderson, the director.

This will all be featured in the presentation of the sessions at 10.00 a.m. at the auditorium of Artium – the Basque Contemporary Art Museum-Centre in Vitoria.

The decision of the jury will be announced during the event’s closing ceremony, at 11.00 p.m. on Saturday 20 October.
